Tõnu Kark

Tõnu Kark (born December 4, 1947) is an Estonian theatre, film, and television actor, considered one of the most prolific and versatile figures of his generation. He trained at the Performing Arts Department of the Tallinn State Conservatory, graduating in 1972, and has dedicated much of his career to the Estonian Drama Theatre (Eesti Draamateater), playing dozens of memorable roles. His film career is extremely extensive, spanning several eras of Estonian cinema, with appearances in films such as "Keskea rõõmud" (1986) and "Ameerika mäed" (1994). Internationally, he gained significant visibility for his performance in the film "Mandariinid" (Tangerines, 2013), which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Throughout his long career, Kark has received numerous awards and recognitions for his acting skills, including several Best Actor awards from the Estonian Theatre Union. For his significant contribution to national culture, he was awarded the Order of the White Star, 4th Class.
