Zhiming Huang
Zhiming Huang is a Chinese engineer and entrepreneur, internationally known for his pioneering role in the development and promotion of solar thermal energy. In 1995, he founded the Himin Solar Energy Group, transforming it into the world's largest manufacturer of solar water heaters and a leader in the renewable energy sector. His most celebrated achievement is the creation of the "Solar Valley" in Dezhou, Shandong province, a vast urban and industrial complex that integrates solar technologies on a large scale, serving as a model for sustainable development. As a deputy to the National People's Congress, he actively promoted the adoption of laws supporting clean energy in China, significantly influencing the country's energy policies. For his commitment to demonstrating the feasibility of an economy based on solar energy, in 2012 he was awarded the Right Livelihood Award, often referred to as the "Alternative Nobel Prize."
