
Charlie Kaufman
Charlie Kaufman is an American screenwriter, director, and producer, known for his complex, surreal, and metanarrative screenplays. He achieved international recognition with the film *Being John Malkovich* (1999), for which he received his first Academy Award nomination. His collaboration with director Spike Jonze continued with *Adaptation.* (2002). In 2005, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for *Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind* (2004), directed by Michel Gondry, solidifying his reputation. He made his directorial debut with the cult film *Synecdoche, New York* (2008), followed by the Oscar-nominated animated feature film *Anomalisa* (2015), and *I'm Thinking of Ending Things* (2020). His works, which explore themes such as identity, mortality, and the nature of artistic creation, have made him one of the most original and influential voices in contemporary cinema.
