
Bruno Ganz
Bruno Ganz (1941-2019) was an internationally acclaimed Swiss actor. With a strong theatrical background, he was able to infuse the big screen with profound intensity and remarkable versatility.
He rose to prominence with films such as Wim Wenders' *The American Friend* (1977) and, especially, in the iconic role of the angel Damiel in Wenders' *Wings of Desire* (1987), where he displayed a melancholic humanity. His most debated and acclaimed performance remains his portrayal of Adolf Hitler in *Downfall* (2004), which revealed his extraordinary mimetic ability.
Ganz was known for his ability to embody complex and often introspective characters, be they vulnerable, powerful, or dark figures, always with great psychological depth. Other notable performances include *Nosferatu the Vampyre* (1979) and the poignant *Bread and Tulips* (2000).
