Cybill Shepherd (born in 1950) is an American actress and former model. Her film career had a dazzling start in the early 1970s. She debuted in Peter Bogdanovich's award-winning *The Last Picture Show* (1971), a role that earned her immediate renown.

She then starred alongside Charles Grodin in Elaine May's comedy *The Heartbreak Kid* (1972), consolidating her image as a sophisticated woman. Another memorable appearance was as Betsy in Martin Scorsese's *Taxi Driver* (1976), where she showcased a more complex facet of her talent.

Shepherd often distinguished herself in roles of attractive, independent, and intelligent women, sometimes with a vein of vulnerability or wit. Although her film career did not maintain the same momentum in subsequent years, she found enormous television success, particularly with the series *Moonlighting*.
