Ernest Thesiger
**Ernest Thesiger (1879-1961)** was a British actor, remembered for his distinctive, emaciated, and aristocratic appearance, and for his theatrical acting style.
He is most famous for his role as Doctor Pretorius in *Bride of Frankenstein* (1935), an iconic performance that defined his cinematic archetype. His filmography includes other horror classics such as *The Old Dark House* (1932) and *The Ghoul* (1933), often alongside Boris Karloff.
Specializing in eccentric, aristocratic, often sinister, or overtly effeminate characters, Thesiger brought an unsettling presence and impeccable diction to the screen. His ability to infuse dark humor and sophistication even into the most macabre roles made him unforgettable. He also had notable roles in later productions, such as *The Man in the White Suit* (1951).
