**Gina Manès** (1893-1989) was a French actress, icon of silent cinema and the early years of sound. Her film career was marked by roles as passionate women, often tormented or mysterious, which made her one of the most fascinating “vamps” of the era.
She collaborated with leading directors of French cinema. Among her most famous films are Jean Epstein's **Coeur fidèle** (1923), in which she gave an intense and melancholic performance. Her performance in Abel Gance's **Napoléon** (1927), an epic blockbuster in which she shone with her dramatic talent, was also memorable. She also appeared in Marcel L'Herbier's **L'Argent** (1928).
Her style was characterized by a magnetic presence and a deep gaze, which allowed her to embody complex and tragic female characters, leaving a significant mark on French cinema of the time.
