Glenn Ford (1916-2006) was a Canadian-American actor, one of the most recognizable faces of Hollywood's Golden Age. He built a lasting career, excelling in "everyman" roles or morally ambiguous figures, often displaying a subtle intensity.

The role that cemented his success was Johnny Farrell in *Gilda* (1946) alongside Rita Hayworth. His versatility allowed him to credibly span dramas, Westerns, noirs, and comedies. Among his most notable films are Fritz Lang's classic noir *The Big Heat* (1953), the social drama *Blackboard Jungle* (1955), and Frank Capra's comedy *Pocketful of Miracles* (1961). In 1978, he played Jonathan Kent in *Superman*. Ford remains an iconic performer for his ability to portray complex and relatable characters.
