Haya Harareet

**Haya Harareet** (Haifa, September 20, 1931 – Jaffa, February 3, 2021) was an Israeli actress, primarily remembered for her iconic role as Esther in William Wyler's epic *Ben-Hur* (1959).

Her film career began with the Israeli film *Hill 24 Doesn't Answer* (1955), followed by international productions such as John Ford's *Gideon's Day* (1958). The worldwide success of *Ben-Hur* established her as the face of a strong, noble, and compassionate woman, thanks to her portrayal of Judah Ben-Hur's slave and love interest.

Harareet also starred in *The Conspiracy of the Ten* (1962) and other European productions. Her style was characterized by an elegant screen presence and measured performances, often in roles of female characters endowed with great dignity and inner resolve. She retired from the screen in the early 1960s, leaving a memorable impression despite a relatively short filmography.
