Henry Jones

Henry Jones (1912-1999) was a prolific American character actor, recognized for his remarkable versatility. Throughout his long film career, he often played roles of ordinary men, sometimes nervous, shy, pedantic, or eccentric, but always with a profound authenticity.

Among his most memorable performances are the unsettling gardener Leroy in *The Bad Seed* (1956), a role that earned him widespread acclaim, the bartender in *3:10 to Yuma* (1957), and the distinctive bicycle salesman in *Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid* (1969). He also had a significant cameo as the morgue attendant in Hitchcock's classic *Vertigo* (1958). His ability to make supporting characters vivid and credible made him a familiar and appreciated face on the big screen for decades.
