
Ian Holm
Ian Holm (1931-2020) was a highly talented and versatile British actor, known for his ability to embody complex and often enigmatic characters.
His film career was studded with memorable roles: most notably the android Ash in *Alien* (1979), a disturbing performance that made him a sci-fi icon. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as coach Sam Mussabini in *Chariots of Fire* (1981).
In the new millennium, he won millions of fans as the elder Bilbo Baggins in *The Lord of the Rings* and *The Hobbit* sagas. He also left his mark in films like *Brazil* (1985) and *The Fifth Element* (1997).
