Jane Birkin
Jane Birkin (1946 – 2023) was a British actress, singer, and model whose film career predominantly took place in France.
She achieved international recognition with Michelangelo Antonioni's film "Blow-Up" (1966). After moving to France, she solidified her fame by acting in numerous comedies and dramas. Her collaboration with Serge Gainsbourg, both artistic and personal, was pivotal, leading her to films such as "Slogan" (1969) and the controversial "Je t'aime moi non plus" (1976), which he himself directed.
Her most notable performances also include "La Piscine" (1969), "La Moutarde me Monte au Nez" (1974), and "Mort sur le Nil" (1978). Birkin was known for her innocent and naive charm, often combined with a subtle sensuality. She embodied ethereal characters, sometimes fragile or eccentric, with a distinctive combination of grace and clumsiness, working with directors such as Jacques Doillon and Agnès Varda.
