Jean-Claude Guilbert
Jean-Claude Guilbert (1934-2016) was a French actor, an emblematic figure of the Nouvelle Vague and known for his frequent collaborations with Jean-Luc Godard.
He left a distinctive mark on French cinema of the 1960s with his natural acting style and his ability to portray complex and often enigmatic characters. Among his most significant roles were those in iconic films such as "Le petit soldat" (1963), "Une femme est une femme" (1961), "La Chinoise" (1967), and "Week-end" (1967).
His most celebrated role is probably that of Paul, the idealistic and melancholic young protagonist in "Masculin Féminin" (1966), which made him a symbolic face of the Parisian youth of that era. Guilbert distinguished himself with his subtle yet incisive presence, often portraying detached, cynical, or disillusioned figures, contributing to defining the aesthetics and themes of auteur cinema of his time.
