Jean Dasté

**Jean Dasté (1904-1994)** was a French actor, known primarily for his collaboration with director Jean Vigo. He starred in two of Vigo's cinematic masterpieces: *Zéro de conduite* (1933), where he played the rebellious teacher Huguet, and, most notably, *L'Atalante* (1934), as the melancholic captain Jean.

In these iconic roles, Dasté embodied characters of poetic sensibility, often introverted or idealistic, with a delicate and authentic screen presence. Although his film career was not as extensive as his theatrical one, Dasté left an indelible mark with his measured and profound performances. He also appeared in other films, including François Truffaut's *L'Enfant sauvage* (1970), confirming his restrained and incisive style.
