
Jinpachi Nezu
Nezu Jinpachi (1947-2016) was a Japanese actor, renowned for his intense stage presence and his penetrating gaze. His film career is inextricably linked to the works of the master Akira Kurosawa.
He played prominent roles in two of his masterpieces: "Kagemusha - The Shadow Warrior" (1980), where he portrayed a brigand, and especially "Ran" (1985), in which he delivered a memorable performance as the tormented son Jiro, consolidating his international fame.
Nezu was often chosen to portray samurai, warriors, or complex figures, characterized by significant psychological depth and an aura of stoicism. He also collaborated with director Hideo Gosha in films such as "The Geisha" (1983) and "Hunter in the Dark" (1979), demonstrating his versatility in dramatic roles. His style was characterized by an innate gravitas and an ability to express intense emotion with economy.
