**José Calvo** (1916-1980) was a Spanish actor with a prolific film career, particularly active in genre cinema, including spaghetti westerns and peplum films.

Known for his expressive face and his ability to portray characters with a strong presence, often in supporting but memorable roles. He embodied authoritarian figures, gruff peasants, innkeepers, bandits, or men of the cloth.

Among his most iconic roles was Padre Ramirez in Sergio Leone's *The Good, the Bad and the Ugly* (1966), which brought him international recognition. He also appeared in *A Fistful of Dollars* (1964), though in a minor and uncredited role, and in numerous other Spanish films and co-productions. His robust physique and intense acting made him a recognizable face, beloved by audiences.
