Karl Malden

Karl Malden (born Mladen Sekulovich, 1912-2009) was an American actor, known for his charismatic presence and distinctive nose. A member of the Actors Studio, he had a long and fruitful collaboration with director Elia Kazan.

He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Mitch in *A Streetcar Named Desire* (1951), and was nominated for his intense portrayal of Father Barry in *On the Waterfront* (1954).
