Kyoko Kishida (1930-2007) was a Japanese actress of remarkable talent and compelling screen presence, whose film career was marked by complex and often enigmatic roles.
She is renowned for her intense collaborations with director Hiroshi Teshigahara. She portrayed the iconic and mysterious "woman of the dunes" in *Woman in the Dunes* (Suna no Onna, 1964), a role that earned her international acclaim. Their partnership continued with *The Face of Another* (Tanin no Kao, 1966), where Kishida once again showcased her ability to embody multifaceted characters.
She also worked with masters such as Yasujirō Ozu, appearing in *An Autumn Afternoon* (Sanma no Aji, 1962).
