Lina Volonghi
**Lina Volonghi (1914-1991)** was an Italian actress of great temperament, known for her intense character portrayals, especially in cinema, despite having an extensive theatrical career.
Her style was characterized by natural and incisive acting, often portraying strong women, commoners, or maternal/matriarchal figures, sometimes tinged with irony or wisdom. Among her most celebrated performances were those in award-winning auteur films, such as *Padre Padrone* (1977) by the Taviani brothers and *The Tree of Wooden Clogs* (1978) by Ermanno Olmi, both Palme d'Or winners at Cannes, where she offered authentic and touching portrayals. She also demonstrated her versatility in more audacious roles, such as in Tinto Brass's *The Key* (1983). Her ability to imbue characters with depth and humanity made her a beloved and recognizable figure in Italian cinema.
