Marcella Rovena
**Marcella Rovena** was an Italian character actress, primarily active in Italian cinema from the post-war period to the 1960s. With a prolific career spanning over forty years, she distinguished herself through her ability to interpret secondary but incisive roles, often portraying authentic female figures deeply rooted in Italian social reality.
Recognized for her capacity to embody common women, mothers, neighbors, or landladies/proprietors, she worked with many of the era's greatest directors, contributing to masterpieces of Neorealism and Commedia all'italiana. Among her most significant appearances are: the widow Concetta in Giuseppe De Santis's *Riso Amaro* (1949), her participation in Steno and Monicelli's *Guardie e ladri* (1951), Pietro Germi's *Il ferroviere* (1956), and the role of Ninetta in Mario Monicelli's *I soliti ignoti* (1958). Her acting, always measured and realistic, helped define the face of Italian cinema of that era.
