Marianne Sägebrecht
Marianne Sägebrecht (Starnberg, 1945) is a German actress, known for her distinctive stage presence and eccentric roles.
Her film career gained momentum thanks to director Percy Adlon. Following the success of *Zuckerbaby* (1985), the role that cemented her international reputation was that of the melancholic and extravagant Jasmine Münchgstettner in *Bagdad Café* (1987), also known as *Out of Rosenheim*. This film earned her immense popularity and defined her image.
She continued to act in international productions, such as Danny DeVito's *The War of the Roses* (1989), where she played a small but memorable part. Sägebrecht is renowned for portraying unconventional female characters: often generous, sensitive women, possessing an innocence and a zest for life despite their circumstances, capable of finding beauty and magic in the everyday. Her imposing physique is coupled with a unique expressive delicacy.
