Moira Shearer (1926-2006) was a renowned Scottish dancer and actress, celebrated for her brief but impactful film career.
She is best known for her iconic performance in Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's masterpiece *The Red Shoes* (1948). As Vicky Page, a talented ballerina torn between her passion for dance and her personal life, Shearer captivated audiences with her ethereal grace and intense dramatic expressiveness, embodying the conflict between art and obsession.
Her collaboration with the two directors continued with *The Tales of Hoffmann* (1951), where her ballet artistry was once again central. Subsequently, she surprised in a completely different dramatic role in Powell's controversial *Peeping Tom* (1960), demonstrating remarkable versatility beyond ballet.
