Nat Pendleton
**Nat Pendleton (1895-1967)** was an American film actor. Born Charles Nathaniel Pendleton, a former Olympic wrestler, he leveraged his imposing physique and build for a career as a character actor.
Pendleton specialized in "big lug" roles with a heart of gold but often not too bright. He played policemen, bouncers, soldiers, and henchmen, often with a touch of unintentional comedy. He is perhaps best remembered for his role as Lieutenant Guild in *The Thin Man* series, alongside Myrna Loy and William Powell.
Other notable appearances include *The Great Ziegfeld* (1936) and *A Day at the Races* (1937). His screen presence, with his gravelly voice and good-natured expression, made him a familiar face and a reliable character actor of classic Hollywood cinema.
