Oskar Werner (1922-1984) was an Austrian actor who became internationally renowned for his intense film career. He achieved global fame with the role of Jules in François Truffaut's masterpiece, *Jules and Jim* (1962).
Other significant roles include Dr. Schumann in *Ship of Fools* (1965), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, Fiedler in *The Spy Who Came in from the Cold* (1965), and Guy Montag in Truffaut's *Fahrenheit 451* (1966).
