Paul Newman

Paul Newman (1925-2008) was an American actor, director, and film producer, a Hollywood icon for over fifty years. With his penetrating blue eyes and innate charisma, he portrayed complex characters, often rebellious, tormented, or cynical anti-heroes, but always with an underlying vulnerability and intelligence.

He achieved fame with roles in films such as *Cat on a Hot Tin Roof* (1958) as Brick Pollitt, *The Hustler* (1961) as Fast Eddie Felson, *Hud* (1963), and *Cool Hand Luke* (1967) as the charismatic Luke Jackson. His chemistry with Robert Redford made him the star of timeless successes such as *Butch Cassidy* (1969) and *The Sting* (1973).

After numerous nominations, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for *The Color of Money* (1986), reprising his role as Fast Eddie. Newman is remembered for his intense, nuanced acting and his ability to imbue depth into seemingly detached characters, establishing himself as one of the most influential figures in American cinema.
