Philippe Noiret

**Philippe Noiret** (1930-2006) was a French actor of extraordinary talent and longevity. His cinematic career spanned over fifty years, standing out for his charismatic yet understated presence. He often portrayed bourgeois characters, intellectuals, or ordinary men with depth and a melancholic irony, a master at expressing complex emotions with subtlety.

Among his most iconic roles are that of one of the protagonists in Marco Ferreri's *La Grande Bouffe* (1973), a grotesque satire on consumerism, and the dramatic *Le Vieux Fusil* (1975), which earned him a César. In Italy, he became an icon thanks to films such as Mario Monicelli's *Amici Miei* (1975), where he shone for his sophisticated humor, and, above all, the moving projectionist Alfredo in Giuseppe Tornatore's *Nuovo Cinema Paradiso* (1988), which made him famous worldwide.
