Roland Tautain
**Roland Tautain (1937-2007)** was a French character actor, known for his expressive face and his discreet yet incisive screen presence. Specializing in supporting yet significant roles, he often portrayed ordinary men, laborers, trusted friends, or humble and authentic figures, imbuing them with great humanity and naturalness.
His career was inextricably linked to director Claude Sautet, with whom he established a prolific artistic partnership. Their most celebrated collaborations include masterpieces such as *César et Rosalie* (1972), *Vincent, François, Paul et les autres* (1974), and *Mado* (1976), where Tautain helped to shape the director's social and human universe. He also worked with other important auteurs, such as Bertrand Tavernier in *L.627* (1992).
