Ron Perlman (born in 1950) is an American actor known for his distinctive physical presence and deep, gravelly voice. He gained recognition for roles that often saw him transformed or under heavy makeup, such as in the prehistoric film *Quest for Fire* (1981) and the medieval drama *The Name of the Rose* (1986).
His career is closely linked to director Guillermo del Toro, who has directed him in numerous projects.
