Sabù
**Sabu (actor)**
Sabu Dastagir (1924-1963), known simply as Sabu, was an Indian actor famous for his roles in British and Hollywood adventure films. He was discovered at a very young age by documentarian Robert Flaherty and debuted in the film *Elephant Boy* (1937), produced by Alexander Korda, which launched him internationally.
His natural charisma and exotic appearance made him perfect for portraying young heroes in adventurous settings. His most iconic roles include Prince Abu in *The Thief of Bagdad* (1940), a fantasy classic, and Mowgli in Zoltan Korda's *Jungle Book* (1942). He often interacted with animals and embodied a free, adventurous spirit. Other notable films include *Drums* (1938) and *Black Narcissus* (1947). His brief but significant career made him one of the first actors of non-Western origin to achieve global fame.
