Salvo Randone (1906-1991), a Sicilian actor, was one of the most intense and charismatic figures of Italian cinema. He excelled in roles as intellectuals, magistrates, priests, or disillusioned figures, often marked by moral ambiguity or a troubled inner life. Among his most memorable performances are the lucid and tormented Father Pirrone in Luchino Visconti's *The Leopard* (1963), the ambiguous businessman Nottola in Francesco Rosi's *Hands Over the City* (1963), and the philosopher cook in *Illustrious Corpses* (1976), also by Rosi.
