Stella Dassas

Stella Dassas (1921-2009) was a French actress primarily renowned for her long and prestigious theatrical career, especially at the Comédie-Française. However, she also left a distinctive mark in cinema, although her filmography was less extensive compared to her stage work.

She is remembered for her intense portrayal of Fantine in Riccardo Freda's *Les Misérables* (1948), and for the role of the complex Queen in Jean Cocteau's *The Eagle Has Two Heads* (1948), works that allowed her to express her profound dramatic depth.

Dassas was appreciated for her ability to embody female characters with an aura of dignity, nobility, or tragic suffering. Her style was characterized by an innate elegance, a regal bearing, and intense dramatic power, which made her ideal for roles of strong, complex, and often tormented women.
