Sylvia Bataille
**Sylvia Bataille (1908-1993)** was a French actress, primarily active in the 1930s. She is best remembered for her collaboration with director Jean Renoir, and became one of his muses.
Her most celebrated role is that of Henriette in *Partie de campagne* (1936), Renoir's unfinished masterpiece, where she embodies youthful purity and melancholy in the face of sensual awakening. Her natural acting and expressiveness made her an iconic figure.
She also starred in other significant films by the director, such as *La Chienne* (1931) and *Le Crime de Monsieur Lange* (1936), where she often portrayed complex, sensitive, or tragically fated female characters. Bataille distinguished herself with her subtle and authentic acting, leaving a distinctive mark on pre-war French cinema. Her film career was relatively short, as she retired from acting in the late 1930s.
