**Tamio Ôki (1928-2015)** was a prolific Japanese actor, known for his long film career, especially in genre films. He distinguished himself in supporting roles, often playing authoritarian or ambiguous figures: tough cops, yakuza bosses, stoic detectives, or high-ranking officials.

His austere and charismatic presence made him a familiar face in Japanese crime and thriller films. He is particularly remembered for his numerous collaborations with director Kinji Fukasaku, appearing in yakuza genre masterpieces such as *Battles Without Honor and Humanity* (1973-1974) and *Cops vs. Thugs* (1975). He also starred in other notable films such as Takashi Miike's *Audition* (1999), demonstrating his versatility. Ôki made a significant contribution to the face of post-war Japanese genre cinema.
