**Teri Garr** (born in 1944) is an American actress known for her versatility and distinctive comedic style. She rose to prominence in the early 1970s with memorable roles, such as Inga in Mel Brooks' *Young Frankenstein* (1974) and the exasperated wife in Steven Spielberg's *Close Encounters of the Third Kind* (1977).

Her most acclaimed role was Sandra Lester in *Tootsie* (1982), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Other significant films include the comedy *Oh, God!* (1977) and *Mr. Mom* (1983).
