Tim Holt

**Tim Holt (1919-1973)** was an American actor, son of the renowned actor Jack Holt. Primarily known for his long career in RKO Pictures' B-western films, he often played the role of the honest and upright hero. His style was generally measured and realistic, far from the stereotypes of the boisterous cowboy, making his characters more empathetic.

Despite his prolificacy in the western genre, Holt is also remembered for two prominent dramatic roles: that in Orson Welles's *The Magnificent Ambersons* (1942) and, notably, his intense portrayal of Curtin in John Huston's *The Treasure of the Sierra Madre* (1948), alongside Humphrey Bogart. After interrupting his career to serve in World War II and a subsequent return to westerns, he retired from acting in the mid-1950s.
