Wallace Ford
Wallace Ford (born Samuel Jones, 1898-1966) was an American film and stage actor. With a prolific career that spanned decades, Ford was a familiar face in Hollywood cinema, often cast in supporting roles.
He excelled at portraying ordinary characters, often complex or with neurotic nuances: from the trusted friend to the honest boxer, from the gruff man to the good-natured drunk. His screen presence was always authentic and helped to add depth even to minor roles.
Among his most memorable performances were those in films such as Tod Browning's *Freaks* (1932), where he delivered an unsettling performance, and in masterpieces like John Ford's *The Informer* (1935) and Alfred Hitchcock's *Spellbound* (1945). He also starred in several B-movie horrors such as *The Mummy's Hand* (1940), solidifying his reputation as a versatile character actor.
