Yacef Saadi
**Yacef Saadi** (born in 1928), an Algerian historical figure and actor, is primarily known for his portrayal in Gillo Pontecorvo's neorealist masterpiece, *The Battle of Algiers* (1966).
In the film, Saadi portrayed Ali La Pointe, the charismatic rebel leader of the National Liberation Front (FLN), a role he himself had embodied in real life. His performance was not that of a professional actor in the traditional sense, but a powerful and authentic embodiment of himself. This authenticity lent the film extraordinary veracity and intensity, making his contribution iconic. Although he did not pursue an extensive subsequent film career, his single yet unforgettable appearance made him a symbolic face of Algerian resistance on screen.
