**Bong Joon-ho** (Daegu, South Korea, 1969) is an acclaimed South Korean film director, screenwriter, and producer, known for his eclectic style that blends diverse genres such as thriller, black comedy, drama, and science fiction. Among his most significant works are the multi-award-winning police thriller *Memories of Murder* (2003) and the monster film *The Host* (2006), which earned him international recognition.
