**Emeric Pressburger** (1902-1988) was an influential Hungarian-born naturalized British director, screenwriter, and producer. He is universally known for his fruitful collaboration with Michael Powell, forming the celebrated duo 'The Archers'.

Together, they created some of the most iconic films in British cinema, often characterized by a masterful use of Technicolor and a deep psychological exploration. Among their most significant works are masterpieces such as *Scala al Paradiso* (*A Matter of Life and Death*, 1946), *Narciso Nero* (*Black Narcissus*, 1947), and *Scarpette Rosse* (*The Red Shoes*, 1948).
