Percy Adlon
**Percy Adlon** (Munich, 1935) is a German director, screenwriter, and producer, known for his eccentric, poetic cinema imbued with melancholic humor.
He achieved international renown with *Zuckerbaby* (1985) and especially with *Out of Rosenheim* (1987), known as *Bagdad Café*, a cult film that cemented his unique style. His films often explore the lives of outsider characters, almost always women, who seek meaning and connection in unusual contexts.
Adlon favors surreal, almost fairytale-like atmospheres and displays great humanity towards his protagonists, often setting his stories in the United States to offer a European perspective. Other notable works include *Rosalie Goes Shopping* (1989) and *Salmonberries* (1991).
