Dorian Gray
**Dorian Gray** (stage name of Maria Luisa Mangini, 1928-2011) was a prominent Italian actress between the 1950s and early 1960s, a symbol of modern and sophisticated sensuality.
Her film career was characterized by roles as strong women, often enigmatic, sensual, or fiercely independent. Her most celebrated performances include that of the brazen Wanda in Federico Fellini's "Nights of Cabiria" (1957) and the intense role of Virginia in Michelangelo Antonioni's "The Cry" (1957).
She also demonstrated great versatility in successful comedies such as "Totò, Peppino and the... malafemmina" (1956) and "The Showman" (1960) alongside Vittorio Gassman. She retired from acting prematurely in the early 1960s.
