John Wayne (1907-1979), born Marion Morrison, was an iconic American actor, a symbol of masculinity and heroism. Known for his roles as stoic, resolute, and honorable heroes, he dominated the Western and war genres for over fifty years.

His career took off with John Ford's Stagecoach (1939). Wayne became the archetypal cowboy and soldier, characterized by his slow pace and deep voice. He collaborated frequently with directors such as Ford (The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance) and Howard Hawks (Red River, A Dollar for Honor), cementing his image as a man of action.
