**Marcel Dalio (1899-1983)** was a French actor, one of the most recognizable character actors in French and Hollywood cinema.
Best known for his collaborations with Jean Renoir, he excelled in masterpieces such as *The Grand Illusion* (1937), where he played Captain Rosenthal, and *The Rules of the Game* (1939), in the central role of Robert de la Cheyniest.
Forced to flee to the United States during World War II, he found roles in American productions, including a brief but memorable appearance in *Casablanca* (1942) and *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes* (1953).
His style was characterized by sophisticated elegance and often a subtle melancholy.
