Ingmar Bergman

**Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007)** was an influential Swedish film and theatre director, screenwriter, and producer. His extensive filmography is renowned for its psychological introspection and exploration of existential themes.

Through masterpieces such as *The Seventh Seal* (1957), *Wild Strawberries* (1957), and *Persona* (1966), Bergman explored faith, doubt, death, solitude, and the complexities of human relationships. His style is distinguished by the use of intense dialogue, expressive close-ups, and often stark yet powerful staging, which creates somber and reflective atmospheres. He deeply explored the female psyche and marital crises (*Scenes from a Marriage*, 1973; *Cries and Whispers*, 1972).

His last theatrical film was the semi-autobiographical *Fanny and Alexander* (1982). Considered one of the greatest masters of modern cinema, his work has influenced generations of filmmakers.
